Tessa Thompson to voice Lady in Disney’s remake of Lady and the Tramp

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Disney's LADY AND THE TRAMP was released ini 1955 and told the story of an American Cocker Spaniel named Lady who fell in love with a street-wise mongrel called Tramp. As Disney seems intent on giving each of their animated classics the live-action remake treatment, it should come as no surprise that LADY AND THE TRAMP will be one of them, and Collider has reported that Disney has found their leading Lady.

Tessa Thompson (THOR: RAGNAROK) will voice Lady in the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid, joining the previously announced Justin Theroux (THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME) who will be the voice of Tramp. Ashley Jensen (Extras) will co-star in the film as a Scottish Terrier named Jackie, one of Lady’s closest friends, with Benedict Wong (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR) set to voice Bull, an English bulldog. Kiersey Clemons (DOPE) is also onboard to play Darling, the owner of Lady.  Charlie Bean (THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE) is helming the remake from a script by Andrew Bujalski, and it's expected that LADY AND THE TRAMP will debut on Disney's upcoming digital streaming service which launches next year.

We're seen quite a lot of Tessa Thompson over the past year, with the actress appearing in THOR: RAGNAROK, ANNIHILATION, SORRY TO BOTHER YOU, and HBO's Westworld, and our future holds even more of Thompson as she's set to reprise her role of Bianca Porter for CREED II which will hit theaters on November 21, 2018, and she's currently in the midst of production on the latest MEN IN BLACK film alongside Chris Hemsworth. The F. Gary Gray (THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS) film is set for a June 14, 2019 release.
