After my own rewatch of the MCU films in prep for ENDGAME I can see why most people (including star Chris Hemsworth) don’t think the first two THOR movies made the God of Thunder the strongest character in the series – when it comes to development that is. With THOR: RAGNAROK he was certainly bumped up a few ranks though, as director Taika Waititi unlocked in the character and the cosmic world an irreverent, quirky sense of humor that made him far more entertaining and engaging than he’d ever been. The question is would Waititi be back for more godly adventures? We don’t know anything really about what happens after ENDGAME, but actress Tessa Thompson has heard it may be on the table.

The actress was speaking with the Los Angeles Times in promotion for her new movie LITTLE WOODS (out now), and naturally, they started talking about a potential appearance for her character Valkyrie ENDGAME, THOR 4 and more Marvel. When it comes to the fourquel, Thompson knows about as much as the rest of us, saying she’s heard that a pitch has been made that would find Waititi returning to direct.
"I heard that a pitch has happened for [another "Thor" film]. I don't know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika [Waititi, who directed 'Ragnarok'] would come back."

While that’s far from a confirmation anything is happening, it at least hints the idea is on the table, and why wouldn’t it be? THOR: RAGNAROK gave the character a much-needed spark after two previous movies that failed to make him the most interesting Avenger, becoming one of the best-reviewed movies in the series and making over $850 million globally. Bringing the director back would be a smart move, and even Waititi said he would “probably” come back if asked (via Uproxx).
Truth is, we have no idea what's in store for the MCU. Everything is being kept in a secret volcano lair until after ENDGAME, so for all we know Thor kicks the bucket during this new, epic outing. But I guess that means Valkyrie and Korg would just take over a fourth Thor movie, so I guess that would be pretty terrific too.
AVENGERS: ENDGAME is in theaters April 26.
