We heard back in August that Terrifier 2 – which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000 – will be getting a theatrical re-release in November. Now Cineverse has confirmed that the movie will be reaching screens again on November 1st (a week earlier than previously announced)… and it’s coming back to the big screen with a special treat for Terrifier fans. Not only will there be a teaser for the upcoming sequel Terrifier 3 shown during the presentation, but the first 100 fans at each theatre will receive an exclusive Terrifier 3 poster!
Tickets are available now wherever movie tickets are sold, including Fandango, the official website, and Atom Tickets.
Written and directed by Damien Leone (who has recorded a special introduction for re-release screenings), Terrifier 2 tells the following story: After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he must hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. As the body count rises, the siblings fight to stay alive while uncovering the true nature of Art’s evil intent.
Terrifier star David Howard Thornton reprises the role of the bloodthirsty Art the Clown and is joined in the cast of Terrifier 2 by Lauren LaVera (Iron Fist), Elliott Fullam (Instinct), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Tamara Glynn (Halloween 5), Samantha Scaffidi (American Fango), Griffin Santopietro (Cobra Kai), and Chris Jericho (Killroy Was Here).
This sequel is actually the third feature with Art the Clown in it. Before making Terrifier, Leone introduced the character in short films that were included in the 2013 horror anthology All Hallows’ Eve.
Leone had this to say about the re-release: “This year has been unlike anything we could have imagined. To see all the love Terrifier 2 has received and the excitement this release has inspired from fans new and old, is truly beyond words. As a thank you to our fans and the many people who worked tirelessly on this release, we want to bring it back to the big screen where it belongs. And more than that, while fans eagerly await the release of Terrifier 3 next year, we want the chance to share what we’ve been working on for the third installment because a year is just too long to wait.“
Brad Miska, Managing Director of Bloody Disgusting/Cineverse, added: “Terrifier 2‘s return to theaters is the perfect farewell to the Halloween season, an event that will have audiences clinging onto their barf bags once again. This exemplifies the pinnacle of horror cinema, an experience that etches itself into memory. Between the exclusive Terrifier 3 scene that will only be shown in theaters to the exclusive poster, this is a night you won’t want to miss out on.“
