Warner Bros. has confirmed May 22, 2009–otherwise known as Memorial Day Weekend–as the release date for his futuristic blockbuster TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS. Really? An early summer release? I always saw this coming out in late December, in the heart of Oscar season. I guess that’s why I’m not a studio exec (although I probably will be within three years). The film will go head-to-head with another sequel, the Ben Stiller comedy NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2: ESCAPE FROM THE SMITHSONIAN. Here’s some advice to both of these movies. T4 is set in a post-apocalyptic future, after the computer system Skynet has wiped out most of the human race. Christian Bale stars as John Connor, leader of men, vanquisher of cyborgs, and Sam Worthington plays a soldier who will fight alongside him. Shooting starts on May 5 in New Mexico. The film comes out on May 22, 2009, in case any of you skipped the first paragraph.
