There's now less than a month to go until we return to the TERMINATOR franchise, and although we've been burned by the past few entries, I've got my fingers crossed for TERMINATOR: DARK FATE. Not only does James Cameron return to the fold for the first time since TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, but Linda Hamilton is also back as Sarah Connor. Plenty of reasons to get excited. Taking place more than two decades since Sarah Connor changed the future, DARK FATE finds a new highly advanced Terminator sent back in time to hunt down and kill Dani Ramos, a young woman living in Mexico City, but thankfully she's got an enhanced super-soldier, a T-800, and Sarah Connor herself watching her back.
Paramount Pictures have released a series of bit-sized featurettes which offer a few tidbits regarding the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes), Grace (Mackenzie Davis), and Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna), as well as a little new footage for good measure.
As I mentioned above, the past few TERMINATOR sequels haven't exactly been as successful as audiences would have hoped, but bringing James Cameron, Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and an R-rating all together under the direction of DEADPOOL's Tim Miller might just give the franchise the kick in the ass it needs in order to stay relevant.
The official synopsis for TERMINATOR: DARK FATE:
More than two decades have passed since Sarah Connor prevented Judgment Day, changed the future, and re-wrote the fate of the human race. Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) is living a simple life in Mexico City with her brother (Diego Boneta) and father when a highly advanced and deadly new Terminator – a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) – travels back through time to hunt and kill her. Dani's survival depends on her joining forces with two warriors: Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced super-soldier from the future, and a battle-hardened Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). As the Rev-9 ruthlessly destroys everything and everyone in its path on the hunt for Dani, the three are led to a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from Sarah’s past that may be their last best hope.
TERMINATOR: DARK FATE will hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
