Teddy trailer: werewolf comedy is now on Shudder

If you have the Shudder streaming service, you may have already watched the French werewolf horror comedy Teddy, which was released through Shudder earlier this month. If you haven’t, maybe the trailer embedded above will convince you that it’s time to give Teddy a chance.

Written and directed by twin brothers Ludovic Boukherma and Zoran Boukherma, the film has the following synopsis:

Twentysomething Teddy lives in a foster home and works as a temp in a massage parlor. Rebecca, his girlfriend, will soon graduate. A scorching hot summer begins. But Teddy is scratched by a beast in the woods: the wolf that local angry farmers have been hunting for months. As weeks go by, animal impulses soon start to overcome the young man.

Anthony Bajon (Wonders in the Suburbs), Jean-Michel Ricart (Pourquoi mon fils?), Noémie Lvovsky (How to Be a Good Wife), first-timers Ludovic Torrent, Guillaume Mattera, and Alain Boitel, and Christine Gautier star.

This is the second feature for the Boukherma brothers, following the 2016 comedy drama Willy 1er. This isn’t the first time they have made a movie about a werewolf, though. Christine Gautier – who plays Rebecca in Teddy – previously worked with them on the 2018 werewolf short film La naissance du monstre, which has a running time of 10 minutes according to IMDb.

I haven’t watched any of the Boukhermas’ previous works, but Teddy looks entertaining to me. The reviews compiled by Rotten Tomatoes are 77% positive, so it seems to be going over well with a lot of viewers. I don’t currently have access to the Shudder streaming service, but the next time I do I will be adding this one to my watch list.
