The global phenomenon is returning with the announcement from Apple TV+ that season 3 of Ted Lasso will be making its debut in the spring of 2023. In addition, the streaming service also released a first look with a picture from the new season. What could this mean for the AFC Richmond team?

The soccer comedy from Bill Lawrence, who will be debuting another comedy on Apple with Shrinking, made history by breaking records with its second season by becoming the most Emmy-winning comedy for the second year in a row as it took home four golden trophies. This includes awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Jason Sudeikis), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Brett Goldstein), and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (MJ Delaney). Ted Lasso‘s consecutive wins has the show join seven other comedies to do so, including Modern Family, 30 Rock, Frasier, The Golden Girls, Cheers, All in the Family, and The Phil Silvers Show.

Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer team—despite having no experience. But what he lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with optimism, underdog determination…and biscuits. The award-winning Apple Original comedy also stars Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed and Sarah Niles.

Series star Jason Sudeikis executive produces the show along with Bill Lawrence, known for Scrubs and Cougar Town, from his production company, Doozer Productions. It is produced in association with Warner Bros. Universal Television, which is a division of Universal Studio Group. Additionally, Doozer’s Jeff Ingold also serves as an executive producer along with Liza Katzer as co-executive producer. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, and is based on the characters and comedy sketches that originated on NBC Sports.

Ted Lasso‘s first two seasons are currently available to revisit on the Apple TV+ app, and the new season is slated for an as-of-yet-announced date in the spring of 2023.

Recently, EA Sports’ FIFA 23 released a trailer that features the Ted Lasso character and AFC Richmond as part of their new game. You can check that out below!
