It isn't often that I have a favorite horror movie producer. But Travis Stevens is one of the few having been the man behind bringing such neo-classics as the female horror anthology XX, WE ARE STILL HERE, AMERICAN MUSCLE, STARRY EYES, CHEAP THRILLS, BIG ASS SPIDER!, 68 KILL, MOHAWK, HOVER, THE AGGRESSION SCALE, and A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE to the screen over the past few years. And it's with this in mind, I'm really looking forward to checking out Stevens' feature directing debut film GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR starring WWE legend Phil "CM Punk" Brooks and Trieste Kelly Dunn. The film will be hosting its World Premiere At SXSW this March and today we have the movie's teaser trailer to share with you.
It's pretty great, I say. It starts all Kubrick and calm with a very slow zoom-out on a simple not scary at all kitchen sink (get it?) and then, just as the teaser is wrapping up… well, I'm not going to spoil that for you here. Give the teaser a watch yourself below and chuckle at the fun of it.
Stevens also wrote the script for the movie which follows this synopsis:
Bursting pipes, rotting walls, and unidentifiable slime were not what Don Koch (WWE legend Phil "CM Punk" Brooks) expected when he convinced his wife Liz (Trieste Kelly Dunn of Showtime's Banshee and Applesauce) that he could rehab their new Victorian home himself. In over his head, under duress, and tempted by his old weaknesses, Don soon discovers that the house has its own dark, sordid history and won't be so easy to renovate after all…
GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR is the debut film for newly formed Chicago-based production company QUEENSBURY PICTURES. The film is the writing and directorial debut of producer Travis Stevens (WE ARE STILL HERE, STARRY EYES, CHEAP THRILLS). Stevens produced this movie as well along with Greg Newman, Giles Edwards, and Nicola Goelzhaeuser. Malik Ali, Badie Ali, and Hamza Ali are the flick's executive producers and Scott Thiele is the cinematographer, Graham Reznick is the sound designer, Dan Martin created the special FX make-up, and Steve Albini provided the score. The movie will be hosting its World Premiere At SXSW Sunday, March 10th at 11:45 pm at Alamo Lamar E. Will you be there? Let us know!
