Something that sounds like it could be a hell of a lot of fun is crawling its way towards us, and if you were a fan of 80's videogames you'll probably get a kick out of this.
Twitch shared the news that Finnish Roger! Pictures has entered into agreement with US-based legendary game developer Cinemaware to produce a motion picture adaptation of the classic 80's game IT CAME FROM THE DESERT. The action-horror-comedy tells a story of…
…giant mutated ants which wreak havoc in New Mexico desert.
The film will also follow on the legacy of the game and tie into the original story as new characters make an appearance several decades later to discover new horrors.
Roger's Teemu Virta will produce the film, and Tero Kaukomaa of IRON SKY will be the executive producer. Marko Mäkilaakso, who also co-wrote the script with Hank Woon, will be directing. The film is currently in pre-production for an Autumn 2015 shoot and 2016 release. Canadian-based Raven Banner Entertainment is heading to the EFM in Berlin with worldwide sales rights to the action-horror-comedy film.
