Focus Features has just released the first poster for PARANORMAN. This is the latest film from LAIKA, the animation studio made famous by their incredible adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s CORALINE.
Directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler from an original story by the latter, PARANORMAN is about a young kid with strange powers.
A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead takes on ghosts, zombies and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, in order to save his town from a centuries-old curse.
Norman Babcock is an outcast in his small New England town. When a horde of zombies is unleashed on the populace, Norman learns he must use his paranormal powers to make things right again. That’s not an easy task when you’re only eleven. And you’ve just been grounded.
Here’s the poster.
A trailer should be on the way later this week.
As well as Kodi Smit-McPhee (LET ME IN) voicing Norman the film boasts an impressive cast consisting of Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Tucker Albrizzi, Alex Borstein, Jodelle Ferland and Elaine Stritch.
The crew is equally impressive as well, with Arianne Sutner (THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU) and Laika President and CEO Travis Knight serving as producers. Oscar winner Brian Van’t Hul (KING KONG, CORALINE) is Visual Effects Supervisor, Nelson Lowry (FANTASTIC MR. FOX, CORPSE BRIDE) is Production Designer and Tristan Oliver (WALLACE & GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT) is Director of Photography. With a crew like that (who’s worked on some of the best animated films of the last few years) you just know that the animation is going to be top notch.
