While the fourth season of BBC's Sherlock won't even start filming until early 2016 (ugh), the one-off Christmas special will air later this year, and the network has tweeted a teaser image featuring stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The episode will be set in Victorian London (hence the dapper suits and Freeman's sweet 'stache), and won't have any connection to the previous seasons, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be an "it was all just a dream" episode.
Hopefully this becomes a yearly tradition, because it really sucks having to wait two years between seasons. Yeah, Cumberbatch and Freeman are busy dudes (especially with their new Marvel gigs), but I'm in desperate need of new Sherlock episodes, and I know I'm not the only one who can't wait for the return of the sleuthing duo.
Benedict Cumberbatch can be seen next on the big screen starring alongside Johnny Depp in Scott Cooper's Whitey Bulger biopic BLACK MASS on September 18, 2015, and Martin Freeman has a currently undisclosed role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, which is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
