Just five days ago, we shared the cool, retro-style poster for director Jenn Wexler's horror/thriller THE RANGER, which will be making its world premiere at the SXSW festival tonight. With the premiere just hours away, we now have not only the film's teaser trailer to share, but also an EXCLUSIVE look at the soundtrack list.
Starring Chloe Levine, Granit Lahu, Jeremy Pope, Bubba Weiler, Amanda Grace Benitez, Jeremy Holm, and the legendary Larry Fessenden, THE RANGER tells the following story:
When Chelsea and her friends get in trouble with the cops, they flee the city and go on the run. Fueled by a hallucinogenic drug called Echo, they hope to lay low-and get high-in an old family hideout in the woods. But Chelsea's got reservations about going back to nature and secrets she's not sharing with her friends. When a shot rings out, her past comes crashing back, and the punks find themselves pitted against the local authority- an unhinged park ranger with an axe to grind.
Wexler had this to say about the soundtrack assembled for the film:
I really wanted the soundtrack to feel like a mixtape, with music spanning the sub-genres of punk, and was so psyched to work with music promoter Middagh Goodwin who connected us with bands ranging from The Authorities and The Avengers to newer bands like The Nerv, The Atom Age, and Rotten UK (who appear live in the film). Our composers Wade MacNeil, from Alexisonfire and Gallows, and Andrew Gordon Macpherson, created new songs for the film in addition to an insane score."
The resulting soundtrack:
