While fans of Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy, Married… with Children) wait to see if her latest series Rebel will be able to find a new home after ABC cancelled it, The Hollywood Reporter has gotten word that Sagal has signed on to star in the thriller Tattered Hearts, one of the eight horror and thriller films Blumhouse Productions is making for the Epix premium cable outlet.
Directed by genre regular Brea Grant (12 Hour Shift) from a screenplay by newcomer Rachel Koller Croft, Tattered Hearts will center on
an up-and-coming country music duo who seek out the secluded mansion of their idol, Harper Dutch (Sagal). What starts out as a friendly visit devolves into a twisted series of horrors that force the friends to confront the lengths they’ll go to in order to realize their dreams.
Jason Blum, Chris McCumber, and Jeremy Gold of Blumhouse Television are executive producing the film alongside John Ierardi.
This is the third Blumhouse / Epix film we've heard details on. The first to go into production was called A House on the Bayou (click the link to learn more), the story of
a troubled couple and their teenage daughter, who take a vacation to an isolated house in the Louisiana bayou to reconnect as a family. When unexpected visitors arrive, their facade of family unity starts to unravel, as terrifying secrets come to light.
The second was American Refugee (you can click that, too), about
a family seeking shelter in a neighbor’s bunker, while the American economy is in collapse and the nation under martial law. There they find the danger inside is potentially greater than the danger outside.
Both of those films were shot in New Orleans, but The Hollywood Reporter didn't mention where Tattered Hearts will be filming.
A House on the Bayou will premiere on Epix in December. Tattered Hearts will follow sometime in 2022.
