Paramount is rocking a big mood today, as the studio has decided to unveil new images of Taron Egerton (KINGSMAN franchise, ROBIN HOOD) as the English singer, pianist, and composer, Elton John, for Dexter Fletcher's ROCKETMAN. Described as a "musical fantasy story" – as opposed to a straight-forward biopic – the film that got its title from John's 1972 smash hit single will serve as a celebratory exploration into the life and times of one of Pop music's most legendary contributors. In addition to Egerton, the film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard (JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM), Richard Madden (GAME OF THRONES), Stephen Makintosh (UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION), and Jamie Bell (JUMPER), among others.
The first image features John tickling the ivories in front of a massive audience while dressed in what looks to be a shimmering baseball uniform, complete with a sparkling cap and the artist's signature spectacles. The next image shows the Pinball Wizard himself manipulating the keys while inside a recording studio. Finally, the last photo gives us Egerton at his most fabulous, as he stares back at the camera in full Johns attire. I'm talking about a star-covered shirt, feathery shoulders, rhinestone frames, as well as an expression that says "I'm about to melt your face with power of love."

Here is the official synopsis for ROCKETMAN:
The story of Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.
Written by Lee Hall (WAR HORSE, BILLY ELLIOT) and helmed by Fletcher (EDDIE THE EAGLE, SUNSHINE ON LEITH), ROCKETMAN is being produced by Matthew Vaughn, David Furnish, Adam Bohling, David Reid, with executive production being arranged by Elton John, Steve Hamilton Shaw, Michael Gracey, and Claudia Schiffer.
Much like Rami Malek's recent and uncanny transformation into Queen frontman Freddie Mercury for Bryan Singer's BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, Egerton is poised to blow the minds of Elton John fans with his incredible talent and dedication toward representing the rock n roll legend on the big screen. With any luck, these recently released images mean that an official trailer is on the way, which will only serve to get us more pumped for this promising portrayel of one of music's greatest icons.
ROCKETMAN will fly into theaters beginning on May 31st, 2019.
