Tales of the Walking Dead: Daniella Pineda joins cast of anthology series

A couple weeks ago, we heard that Terry Crews (The Expendables), Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Anthony Edwards (ER), Poppy Liu (Hacks), and Jillian Bell (Rough Night) are among the cast members of Tales of the Walking Dead, AMC’s anthology series set in the world of The Walking Dead. Now Variety reports that another name has been added to the cast list: Daniella Pineda.

Pineda’s previous credits include playing Zia Rodriguez in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Faye Valentine in the short-lived live-action Cowboy Bebop series. She’ll be seen reprising the role of Zia in Jurassic World: Dominion.

The first season of Tales of the Walking Dead is set to consist of six episodes. Three of those episodes will be directed by series producer and Walking Dead franchise veteran Michael Satrazemis, while Haifaa al-Mansour (Good Lord Bird), Deborah Kampmeier (Star Trek: Picard), and Tara Nicole Weyr (The Wilds) will each be directing one episode.

Executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of the Walking Dead Universe, and showrunner Channing Powell, who has been a writer and producer on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking DeadTales of the Walking Dead is an

episodic anthology of six original, standalone stories focused on both new and established characters within the walker apocalypse.

AMC hasn’t provided any information on the characters the Tales of the Walking Dead cast will be playing. Powell has said:

We’ve worked hard to create unique, interesting and unexpected characters for both old and new TWD fans, and I’m thrilled that these are the actors who will bring them to life. I can’t wait for you to see the depth, drama, terror and, yes, humor they bring to the screen.”

The show is scheduled to begin airing this summer. It will be interesting to see the stories and characters that will be featured on this show, because AMC has been open about the fact that if any given episode is especially well received it could serve as the foundation for another Walking Dead spin-off.
