Before I dive into this article, I just want to stop and point something out, as it’s quite a sight to behold. CARS 2 is currently sitting at 44% 40% 39% on Rotten Tomatoes, and dropping with each new review, making it the first critically disparaged Pixar movie in well…ever. The vast majority of Pixar films are 90% plus, with most even over 95%. Only the original CARS is a deviant at 74%. What the hell happened with CARS 2? I didn’t think they were allowed to release bad movies over there.
I’ll have to see it for myself to sort out the assuredly Larry the Cable Guy-related issues, but in the mean time, Pixar is releasing info about it’s next project, which is not a sequel. It’s BRAVE, and we saw the poster for it yesterday, and now we have a look at the main characters from the film with a plot synopsis to boot.
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).
Below you’ll find Merida (Kelly MacDonald), Elinor (Emma Thompson), Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and the Wise Woman (Julie Walters). I really do like the look, and despite Pixar’s latest misstep, I have to assume this will be worthwhile like almost all of their other films.
