Fresh off his success with JOJO RABBIT and an Oscar win for best adapted screenplay, Taika Waititi will now write, direct & executive produce two original animated series for Netflix that will be based on Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
The first series will be based on the characters from the beloved book's characters while the other will solely take on an original spin on the Oompa-Loompas. The plan is to capture the magic and spirit of Dahl's book while also establishing a world beyond what took place in the pages of Dahl's creation.
Waititi's plate continues to grow and grow as he emerges as one of the top creative talents working in the industry. His feature credits as a director, writer, producer include THOR: RAGNAROK, and its upcoming sequel THOR: LOVE & THUNDER. Waititi aslo wrote, directed and starred in JOJO RABBIT, which was also nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. He took home the aforementiond Oscar for best adapted screenplay for his work on that film. He’s also working on the soccer comedy feature NEXT GOAL WINS. He has also made a name for himself in the world of television having directed the season one finale of The Mandalorian on Disney+, and he served as EP, co-writer, and director of last year’s TV adaptation of his film WHAT WE DO IN SHADOWS on FX, which is now going into its second season.
The start of these two Roald Dahl adaptation begins an extensive partnership between Netflix and The Roald Dahl Story Company. The two entities plan to reimagine many of his beloved stories including "Matilda", "The BFG", "The Twits" and others
I'm on board with whatever Taika Waititi plans on doing next. He is probably one of the most unique voices in his field right now and has a vast imagination as a writer and director. Are YOU all in for his take on Roald Dahl's classics?
