Filmed in 1979 and not released until 1981, SECOND HAND HEARTS originally held the title THE HAMSTER OF HAPPINESS. Two Texas losers, an alcoholic young man and a widowed waitress get married so that the waitress can legally regain custody of her children from their paternal grandparents. The two set out to escape to California in an attempt to make a new life but are arrested and plagued by more life problems.
