Ed Saxon (Jeff Daniels) is a college English professor stricken with insomnia caused by his wife’s recent disappearance. While he waits for her, he receives visits from a police officer (Gil Bellows), a young student (Emily Bergl) who has a crush on him, a grief conselor (Zach Grenier), and his wife’s lover, George (Julian McMahon), who suspects Saxon of murder.
