Hate me if you’d like, but I’m a Michael Bay fan. His films are an entertaining break from the gritty realism that hits us in the face every day. Yeah, some films may be worst than others, but I f*ckin’ loved TRANSFORMERS and recently saw it in IMAX, which blew my mind.
Anyway, with the success of the TRANSFORMERS, it is no surprise that a sequel would be in the works. Michael Bay is back in the directing chair with Stephen Spielberg executive producing. Writing team of the first film Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be joined by Ehren Kruger (THE RING, SCREAM 3) to write the next installment of the franchise.
Director Michael Bay, star Shia LaBeouf and producers Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Don Murphy are back in their respective chairs, as is exec producer Steven Spielberg.
The teaming of A-listers to write such a huge project might be an industry first and could have been necessary because Kurtzman and Orci — who wrote the $315 million-grossing first “Transformers” movie — also are busy writing J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” movie for Paramount and producing “Eagle Eye” for DreamWorks.
