Sylvester Stallone's content company Balboa Prods. is aiming to become the action genre equivalent to the horror-makers at Blumhouse Productions, which is something that I would love to see happen. But while Balboa works toward that goal, they're obviously open to making films in other genres as well – including venturing into Blumhouse's territory for some horror.
An article on Variety lists the five projects on Balboa's inaugural slate, which includes some of the expected action projects, as well as a boxing biopic, a dark take on superheroes, and a remake of the South Korean serial killer thriller THE GANGSTER, THE COP, THE DEVIL. And it also mentions that Balboa is working on
the monster movie “Arcane,” from director Corin Hardy
The article doesn't offer any further details on ARCANE, but the revelation that Sylvester Stallone is going to be producing a monster movie from the director of THE HALLOW and THE NUN is definitely an attention grabber. We'll be keeping a close eye on this project as it moves forward.
Hardy is currently in post-production on the episodes he directed for the Sky / Cinemax drama series Gangs of London. His fellow directors on that show are Gareth Evans and Xavier Gens.
