OVERLORD director Julius Avery's dark superhero thriller SAMARITAN was a few weeks into filming when production had to be shut down during the Coronavirus pandemic. Now the film's star Sylvester Stallone is hanging out at home waiting for the day when it's safe enough to get back to set, and during this hiatus he has shared an interesting behind-the-scenes image of his character in the middle of a fight.
This is one of several images Stallone has shared from the production, so it can be seen below along with some of the other SAMARITAN pictures he has posted.
This project started out with a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut that has since been worked on by Mark L. Smith, Zak Penn, and Chuck MacLean. Junior Olympic boxer Javon 'Wanna' Walton plays
a young boy who sets out to discover if a mythic superhero, who vanished 20 years earlier following a tragic event, remains alive.
Stallone is playing Stanley Kominski, "a sanitation worker trying to live a normal life while harboring a deep secret". Their co-stars include Martin Starr, Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, Moises Arias, Jared Odrick, Michael Aaron Milligan, and Natacha Karam. Asbæk is the film's antagonist, with Karam as a "dangerous and unpredictable" henchperson.
SAMARITAN is being produced by Stallone and Braden Aftergood through their company Balboa Productions. Schut is executive producing.
United Artists Releasing had been planning a December 11th release for the film, we'll have to wait and see if that plan will need to be changed.
