Sylvester Stallone enters The Tomb

This is funny! Originally, prison action film THE TOMB had Bruce Willis attached to star with his TEARS OF THE SUN director Antoine Fuqua at the helm. Bruno wound up leaving the project, but then Arnold Schwarzenegger began considering the gig as his big post-politics comeback vehicle. Of course, that didn’t happen, as Arnie ultimately turned his attention to Jee-woon Kim and THE LAST STAND instead.

So naturally, as the Law of Action Veterans dictates, Sylvester Stallone has stepped in to take on THE TOMB. According to Variety, the story “follows Ray Breslin, the world’s foremost authority on structural security — specifically prisons. His skills are put to the test when he is framed and put in a high-security prison of his own design and must find the person who put him there.” A new director is currently being sought as Antoine Fuqua is no longer attached (he opted to take on SOUTHPAW instead). Perhaps Stallone himself?

THE TOMB, written by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller, has no currently set production start date. As far as Sly goes, we’ll be seeing him next in Walter Hill’s BULLET TO THE HEAD. And then of course, the action bonanza that is THE EXPENDABLES 2 with his asskicking buddies.
