As announced during today’s New York Comic Con Panel, SYFY’s upcoming series titled DEADLY CLASS will premiere on Wednesday, January 16th at 10/9c.
Based on the best-selling 2014 Image Comics graphic novel by Rick Remender and Wes Craig, DEADLY CLASS tells the story of Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), a teen who goes from living on the streets to being recruited into an elite private academy called the Kings Dominion, where only the ruthless and the brutal survive. The world’s top crime families send their offspring here, so maintaining his moral code in a sea of serpents proves to be a vital task for Marcus. It’s a dog eat dog world out there, but as this unique coming of tale will soon prove, the more dangerous the endeavor, the more fun you get to have along the way.
DEADLY CLASS stars Benedict Wong (DOCTOR STRANGE), Wadsworth (TEEN WOLF), Lana Condor (X-MEN APOCALYPSE), María Gabriela de Faría (YO SOY FRANKY) Luke Tennie (SHOCK AND AWE) Liam James (THE KILLING) and Michel Duval (QUEEN OF THE SOUTH).
I’m kinda feeling this HARRY POTTER meets LEON THE PROFESSIONAL vibe that this show is putting out so far. If SYFY sticks the landing, this could be a unique look at life as a teen with heightened abilities when violence and mayhem is encouraged, especially given that it will be pitted against the bright neon backdrop of the 1980s. What do y’all think? Are you going to watch this show when it airs on January 16th? Are you feeling all of this '80s nostalgia? Leave us your thoughts in the comments section below!
