Word on the street is that against all odds, Syfy’s 12 Monkeys doesn’t actually suck. And while I have yet to give this one a shot myself, I’m glad to hear that Syfy was able to successfully set their vision of the show apart from Terry Gilliam’s nutty 1995 classic. Those of you who do watch the show, however, will be glad to hear that Syfy has renewed 12 Monkeys for a second season. Nice!
Currently in its first season, 12 Monkeys has reached 15 million viewers to date and is experiencing record L3 lifts for the network (average L3 lift is 104%). The renewal also comes as the series continues to gain momentum with its most recent episode (Friday, March 6) seeing an increase of 6% over the prior four weeks with 1.5 million total viewers.
12 Monkeys explores the provocative story of a time traveler from a decimated future in a high-stakes race against the clock. Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of time travel, he journeys from 2043 to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race.
12 Monkeys stars Aaron Stanford (“Nikita,” X-Men: The Last Stand, X2), Amanda Schull (“Suits,” Center Stage), and Kirk Acevedo (“Fringe,” “Oz,” Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).
