Syfy reveals first look trailer for George R.R. Martin’s Nightflyers

As George R.R. Martin himself teases in the first look trailer for Nightflyers, the upcoming series is a "haunted house story on a starship. It's Psycho in space." I certainly like the sound of that. Based upon Martin's novella of the same name, Nightflyers follows "eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain – in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other – and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought." It's a little too soon to jump to any conclusions as we're not shown all that much in the trailer, but I'm always down for another quality sci-fi series, particularly one with overtones of horror. At the very least, Nightflyers should look quite spectacular as sources have said that the series is the most expensive drama which Syfy has developed.

Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire) will star as Dr. Agatha Matheson, alongside Eoin Macken (The Night Shift) as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala (FAST & FURIOUS 6) as Roy Eris, Sam Strike (EastEnders) as Thale, Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf) as Lommie, Angus Sampson (Fargo) as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship) as Melantha Jhirl, and Brían F. O’Byrne (MILLION DOLLAR BABY) as Auggie. Nightflyers will debut this fall.
