More creepypasta in the news today! We've already told you about Paul Hough's YouTube channel Don't Turn Around, which is pumping out the creepy, but today news has arrived that the SyFy channel has picked up the anthology show Channel Zero for two six-episode seasons.
The first season of Channel Zero, based on the creepypasta "Candle Cove" by Kris Straub, is about:
A man's obsessive recollections of a mysteries children's television show from the 1980s – and the show's suspected role in a series of murders and deadly events from his childhood.
The second season's story is currently not announced, but they will air respectively in Fall 2016 and Fall 2017 as the centerpieces of SyFy's annual "31 Days of Halloween" celebration. The first season is being written by Hannibal's Nick Antosca.
It seems like horror producers have finally discovered the creepypasta. This either means that this truly disturbing means of storytelling will successfully find a more mainstream audiences or that the trend is over, like when online memes are incorporated into car ads. For the time being, I'm tentatively looking forward to Channel Zero. Long live the Internet!
