The magic of Cirque du Soleil is coming to the big screen in mind-bending 3D courtesy of directors Andrew Adamson (THE CHRONICWHATCLES OF NARNIA) and producer James Cameron in CIRQUE DU SOLEIL – WORLDS AWAY, and today we have the trailer that promises you some acrobatic wow-factor eyegasms.
Take a look:
I haven’t heard anything about this until now, but some digging brought out some details of the film, which will bridge a narrative story with the Cirque du Soleil performances.
“The coupling of filmmaker James Cameron’s groundbreaking 3D visual accomplishments and Andrew Adamson’s beautiful direction, combined with a timeless original story written especially for this movie, will make for a truly amazing moviegoing experience for audiences of all ages,” said Rob Moore, Vice Chairman of Paramount Pictures, in a statement.
“This 3D event brings the spectator beyond what they could see at a show, it takes them on the stage. This unique point of view allows the audience to discover the artistic details of our productions and reveal[s] the human spirit that our artists bring to the audience in their performances,” said Jacques Méthé, Executive Producer, General Manager, Images, Events, Lifestyle of Cirque du Soleil. “Jim and Andrew have masterfully captured what a Cirque du Soleil 3D experience could offer and Paramount will present it to the world.”
This definitely looks interesting and I’m sure it will be chock full of amazing visuals and feats of acrobatic coolness. Personally, I’d rather see this live, but I do dig the concept of getting footage from angles you wouldn’t normally be able to see from the nosebleeds.
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL – WORLDS AWAY opens on December 21, 2012 in 3D.
