Whoa, THE DARK BELOW, PR-team. Pump the breaks. You know it's happened once before, and I am sure it will happen again. But sometimes, no matter how much I think over a flick, or its poster, or its trailer, sometimes, the best way to describe a flick comes right from that film's own press release.
Normally, I'm against copying and pasting press releases because a) where's the fun in that, and b) why bother?
But then again, sometimes, one comes along which sums up the film in a purely poetic fashion. Bone-chilling Bobo, searing supporting, and "…fourth an most daring." You know what, I'll just let you read it yourself. After which you can peep the poster (which is pretty cool) and the trailer if you are interested. All in all it looks like a good way to kill some time. But I'll leave that up for you to decide. I'm just breaking b*lls here.
Without further ado, here is the film's synopsis via press release:
Douglas Schulze (MIMESIS, DARK FIELDS) brings us his fourth an most daring film. THE DARK BELOW is a tense, fear driven film that utilizes minimal dialog to tell the story of a woman (Lauren Mae Shafer) struggling for survival beneath a frozen lake while a serial killer (David G.B. Brown) stalks her from the surface.
With its bone-chilling soundtrack by multiplatinum recording artist Eric Bobo (Cypress Hill, The Beastie Boys) and a searing supporting performance by Veronica Cartwirght (ALIEN, 24: LEGACY), THE DARK BELOW, which played several high profile genre film festivals – including Fantasia International Film Festival, FrightFest UK, Monsters of Film in Sweden and Toronto After Dark – has been celebrated by critics and audiences alike.
THE DARK BELOW stars Lauren Mae Shafer, David G.B. Brown, and Veronica Cartwright, and is directed by Douglas Shulze.
The film hits select US theaters March 10th.
