Gugu Mbatha-Raw recently had a role in the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, and now she's set to star in another show for Apple, the eight-part psychological thriller Surface.
Surface was created and written by Veronica West, who will also be co-executive producing the Dexter revival.
The show is coming to us from Apple Studios and Reese Witherspoon's company Hello Sunshine (which is also behind The Morning Show), with Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine's Lauren Neustadter executive producing alongside West. Mbatha-Raw will be co-executive producer.
Details on the plot of Surface are being kept under wraps, so for now interest in the project has to depend entirely on the names of those involved and the fact that it's going to be a psychological thriller. Hopefully we won't have to wait long to hear more about this one.
Beyond The Morning Show, Mbatha-Raw's credits include ODD THOMAS, JUPITER ASCENDING, FREE STATE OF JONES, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX, A WRINKLE IN TIME, MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN, Marvel's upcoming Loki series, and episodes of Doctor Who, Undercovers, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and Black Mirror. The Black Mirror episode she was in, San Junipero, appears to be the most popular episode in that show's entire run.
