BIRD BOX, an adaptation of the 2014 Josh Malerman novel of the same name, is a project I am very interested in. Scripted by Eric Heisserer and directed by Susanne Bier, the film is set to star Sandra Bullock in the story of
a mother and her two young children, who are among a small group of survivors after a mysterious alien force has driven the world's population to deadly violence. The three must make their way on a terrifying journey — 20 miles in a rowboat — while blindfolded, with nothing to rely on but the mother's wits and the children's trained ears.
The idea of taking a blindfolded boat ride while surrounded by people driven to violence by aliens is really striking to me.
Now a great supporting cast has been added around Bullock to make the project even more appealing. Although no details have been revealed about the characters the other cast members will be playing, it has been announced that Bullock will be sharing the screen with John Malkovich (above), Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Danielle Macdonald, Rosa Salazar, and Lil Rel Howery.
One can probably assume that at least some of those actors will be playing characters that have been made violent by the aliens.
BIRD BOX is being produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, and Clayton Townsend for Netflix.
