Supergirl and The Flash musical episode synopsis hopes to sing you a song

Later this month, The CW is set to air two back-to-back musical episodes of SUPERGIRL and THE FLASH, which will feature both program's leads working together to fight crime while simultaneously belting out some groovy tunes, man. The event begins with the Season 2, Episode 16 of SUPERGIRL, entitled "Star-Crossed" – airing March 20, 2017 on The CW. You can read the official description for it below:

“A new villain (guest star Teri Hatcher) comes to National City, putting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) on high alert. Meanwhile, Winn’s (Jeremy Jordan) girlfriend, Lyra (guest star Tamzin Merchant), gets Winn in trouble with the law. Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) attempts to help Winn but old loyalties get in the way. The Music Meister (Darren Criss) attacks Supergirl.”

Then, you can catch the second half of the adventure when Season 3, Episode 17 of THE FLASH, entitled "Duet", airs on The CW the following night of March 21, 2017. Here is the official synopsis for the outro of the musical event:

“Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.”

As an interesting asideRachel Bloom, creator of the comedy program Crazy Ex-Girlfriend wrote a song called "Super Friends" that will be performed by Glee alums Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist for the special occassion. Additionally, the Oscar/Tony/Emmy-nominated songwriting duo Benji Pasek and Justin Paul have also orchestrated a ditty for the episode called "Runnin' Home to You" that will be presented as a Gustin solo effort. Joining in on the fun with Benoist and Gustin will be co-stars Jeese L. Martin, Victor Garber, John Barrowman, Jeremy Jordan and Carlos Valdes.

Sounds like fun to me! Benoist and Gustin have proven on more than one occasion that they have serious chemistry with one another on-screen, and to have them re-unite through the power of super heroics and song feels like a winning combination for fans of both series.

Be sure to check Alex Maidy's weekly reviews of THE FLASH, and while you're at it, you can also fall down the rabbit hole of our weekly SUPERGIRL reviews written by some uber-nerd we hired named Steve Seigh. Ugh! That guy, don't even get me started. * big wink *
