Super-creepy Twitter ghost story Dear David gets feature via IT producer

Horror stories can come to us from anywhere. People used to draw them on cave walls, then tell them by the fire. Next, we moved on to the written word and movies, so it only makes sense that now we're telling scary stories on social media.

Case in point, BuzzFeed writer Adam Ellis' Twitter ghost story DEAR DAVID. On August 7th, 2017 Ellis sent out a tweet that said: "My apartment is currently being haunted by the ghost of a dead child and he’s trying to kill me." Ellis' resulting (scary as hell) story gathered up more than 1 million followers and he still says his entire story is true:

I’ve never been interested in convincing anyone that ghosts are real–I just wanted to tell my story. If it was all fiction, I probably would’ve updated more than once every couple weeks.

And today we have word that BuzzFeed Studios is partnering with producer Dan Lin (STEPHEN KING'S IT) for a feature film based on the twisted Twitter tale. Currently named The Untitled Dear David Project, the film will be "a high-concept horror thriller based on Ellis’ tweets and images."

Mike Van Waes will pen the screenplay based on a story by Van Waes and Evan Turner. Lauren Dolgan and Hieu Ho will produce alongside Lin and Jonathan Eirich with Turner serving as executive producer.

We will make sure to keep up with this film as DEAR DAVID is a super-creepy story and one I was personally up WAY too late reading in full, in one sitting, last night. I suggest you give the full thread a read as well right HERE.

But as R.L. Stine says, "Reader beware… you're in for a scare."
