Word out of Park City is that the Sundance hit S-VHS has just found a buyer and it is none other than genre-friendly distributor Magnolia Pictures.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to the horror film S-VHS for more than $1 million. S-VHS is a follow-up to the 2012 Sundance selection V/H/S and centers on private investigators who are searching for a missing person and stumble upon a collection of troubling VHS tapes in an abandoned house. The project was directed by Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Edúardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Timo Tjahjanto, Gareth Evans and Jason Eisener.
With S-VHS wowing the audience at Sundance last week as well as delighting our own Chris Bumbray (peep his review HERE), it’s not surprising that the film quickly found a buyer. Now we just patiently wait for word on the films release.
