Suicide Squad 2 will reportedly feature King Shark, Polka-Dot Man, and more

With James Gunn aiming for the upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD film to serve as more of a relaunch than a sequel, it's been said that it will feature a cast of mostly all-new characters. There will be a few familiar members of the team returning, such as Deadshot, but you can't blame Gunn for wanting to bring a new set of reformed villains into the action.

Although nothing has been confirmed, Collider reportedly has the scoop on the new characters who will be featured in THE SUICIDE SQUAD.

  • Ratcatcher, aka Otis Flannegan, a Gotham City exterminator who soon turned to a life of crime and uses an army of small rodents to do his bidding, all while armed with a poison gas gun. Although the character is a man in the comics, Collider claims that Ratcatcher will be gender-swapped in the film.
  • Polka-Dot Man, another Gotham City villain who can turn the polka dots covering his costume into a variety of devices and deadly weapons.
  • Peacemaker, a pacifist diplomat so committed to peace that he's willing to use deadly force in order to advance the cause.
  • King Shark, aka Nanaue, a humanoid shark whose father is the Shark God.

According to Collider, the role of Peacemaker is the one which James Gunn is hoping Dave Bautista will play, and given the actor's intense loyalty to his former GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY director, I'd be surprised if he didn't appear in the film in some form. It's also been said that Ratcatcher will be somewhat of a surrogate daughter of sorts to Deadshot, but as none of this is official, it's best to take it with a grain (or two) of salt. Speaking of Deadshot, although the character will be returning, Will Smith will not reprise the role. It was announced yesterday that Idris Elba (FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW) would be replacing him. As for Margot Robbie coming back as Harley Quinn, it's possible, but it still seems to be up in the air at the moment. THE SUICIDE SQUAD is set for an August 6, 2021 release.

Well, what do you make of this potential SUICIDE SQUAD line-up?
