It appears as if everything is coming up Milhouse for comedian/actress Amy Schumer as her planned I FEEL PRETTY film project recently found a home with STXfilms. As part of a Cannes acquisition, it's said that STXfilms snagged the comedy for around $15 million, with the intention of committing to a wide release on 2,000 screens across the United States. The forthcoming comedy will mark the directorial debut of screenwriters Abby John and Marc Silverstein.
In regard to the film's plot, I FEEL PRETTY will center on Schumer, who will portray an ordinary woman who struggles with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy on a daily basis wakes from a fall believing she is suddenly the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet. With this newfound confidence she is empowered to live her life fearlessly and flawlessly, but what will happen when she realizes her appearance never changed?
While attending the illustrious film festival, STXfilms chief Adam Fogelson said, "Amy is a spectacularly talented comedienne and actress and this story could not be more perfectly suited to her incisive observational skills and humor. We are excited to be working with her and we love adding I FEEL PRETTY to STX’s growing list of female-driven comedies. Abby and Marc are among my favorite comedy screenwriters working today and they have a fantastic vision as directors for this film.”
The way it reads, I FEEL PRETTY appears to have an empowering message to convey to its audience, though there's no telling how it will be received until the film actually arrives.
If you're feeling up to some Schumer-inspired laughs, you can head on out the the theater right now where the comedian stars opposite Goldie Hawn in the fish-out-of-water comedy SNATCHED.
