UPDATE: It looks like the teaser trailer wasn’t the only treat fans had in store for them on Stranger Things Day! Netflix also marked the occasion by announcing that the fourth season of the show is now set to premiere in the summer of 2022, roughly two years after season three made its debut. Whether or not this will get a similar fourth of July weekend release remains to be seen. They also dropped new titles for all nine episodes via an announcement video.
The titles are:
1. The Hellfire Club
2. Vecna’s Curse
3. The Monster and the Superhero
4. Dear Billy
5. The Nina Project
6. The Dive
7. The Massacre at Hawkins Lab
8. Papa
9. The Piggyback
Episode 4 seems to suggest some kind of return for Dacre Montgomery’s Billy – although given that the character died last season (or did he?) his return may not be literal. Anyone have any theories on what these titles could mean? Let us know in the comments!
It’s only fitting that we got a new teaser for season four of Stranger Things on Stranger Things Day and this new look is bound to get fans hyped for the upcoming season. In it, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) who moved to California with the Byers family, reads a letter she’s writing to Mike as she preps for what she hopes will be a great Spring Break, with Mike and the rest of the gang seeming like they’re poised to visit the new sunny California locale. Very cool.
This isn’t the first teaser we have received for the fourth season of Stranger Things. In February of 2020, a teaser was released that hinted at the return of David Harbour’s Hopper, and another teaser, released in May, was a more Eleven-focused tease that pointed to the rumored return of Matthew Modine’s Dr. Martin Brenner. Also, back in August, Netflix dropped a whopping 30-second teaser that confirmed season 4 of the popular supernatural series will debut in 2022. This means that it will be at least two and a half years since the July 2019 release of Season 3. That’s quite the gap but perhaps the growing anticipation means that season 4 will be a popular offering from Netflix in 2022.
The big reason there has been a huge gap between seasons is that Stranger Things had to suspend production a month after they began on season 4 due to the escalating COVID-19 pandemic. All production paused in February 2020 and resumed back in September of last year. Most of the cast and crew have hinted that the delay actually benefitted season 4 as a whole and soon we will get to see the fruits of that labor.
As for where we last left our characters at the end of season 3, “following the explosion, aimed at destroying the Soviet lab to the Upside Down deep under the new Starcourt Mall, Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is seen taking her sons (Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Brown) out of the Indiana town to start a new life. There is a jump in geography in the final scene, which takes place in the far Eastern end of the USSR where guards are feeding a prisoner to an imprisoned Demogorgon, but “not the American.”
