Stranger Things season 4 to be “scariest” season, according to star

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo recently spoke with US Weekly about the popular Netflix show, where he stated that the newest season would be the "scariest" so far.

Here's the pertinent quote:

Yikes. I think most would probably say it’s the scariest [season] out of the previous three, which I love because it’s very fun to film.

And here's the official synopsis for the fourth season, according to show creators The Duffer Brothers:

We're excited to officially announce that production for Stranger Things 4 is now underway—and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper! Although it's not all good news for our 'American'; [Hopper] is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, Russia, where he will face dangers both human… and other. Meanwhile, back in the States, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything…

Honestly, this is cool and all, but the character stuff is what I gravitated to the show for, rather than the horror elements (which were always good, to be fair). So Matarazzo saying that season 4 is going to be scary is promising, but that'll be all for naught if the character stuff doesn't work (which I'd argue was the main failing of season 3 – Steve and Robin, excluded). Let's just hope they can manage both this time!

But what do you guys think? Excited for a new season of Stranger Things? Either way, sound off below!
