Stranger Things season 3 episode count revealed

The first season of Netflix's pop culture phenomenon series Stranger Things was eight episodes long, and for the second season the episode count was increased to nine – but I had it in my head that it was ten. When friends and I got together to binge it, I kept telling them it was ten episodes. Then when we reached episode nine, we all started to feel some uncertainty. "This sure seems like a finale… Oh, it is." So I caught some grief for convincing my friends that we had more Stranger Things to experience than we actually did.

I'm not going to make that mistake with season 3. TVLine has revealed the amount of episodes that series creators the Duffer Brothers and their cohorts are developing for the third season, and it's a familiar number. Season 3 will is going back to the episode count of the first season and will be eight episodes long.

That's kind of disappointing to hear, I would like it if there was another count increase (at least give us ten episodes!), but if eight is what it takes to tell the story, I can go along with it.

Production on the third season is expected to begin in mid-April, which is sooner than I would have guessed. It's likely to start streaming in 2019, and will probably be set in 1985.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Cara Buono, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, and Sadie Sink.
