When Netflix said that the second season of their pop culture phenomenon series Stranger Things would be available for viewing through their streaming service this Halloween, they didn't actually mean that October 31st would be the date when the episodes drop online. Stranger Things season 2 will be available for binge watching this Halloween, but its nine episodes will actually be appearing on Netflix on October 27th.
A release date four days earlier than expected? I can gladly go along with that.
The release date announcement was accompanied by a poster for the season that can be seen below, a Stranger Things timeline, and a new synopsis for season 2.
The timeline:
1953, date unknown – MKUltra comes to Hawkins and begins experimentation
1979 – Police Chief Jim Hopper returns to Hawkins
1983, November 6 – The vanishing of Will Byers
1983, November 8 – The vanishing of Barbara Holland
2016, July 15 – Part 1
2017, October 27 – Part 2
The synopsis:
It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the demagorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.
The cast of the second season consists of a mixture of returning actors and new additions, including Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, Sean Astin, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Paul Reiser, Dacre Montgomery, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Brett Gelman, and Linnea Berthelsen.
I can't wait to see what show creators the Duffer brothers have in store for us when Stranger Things returns in three months.
