David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, is going to be working on both the fifth and final season of Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts (where he’ll be reprising his Black Widow character Red Guardian) simultaneously for a while in Atlanta, Georgia next year, but that doesn’t mean the Stranger Things finale is going to receive any less of his attention that it deserves. In fact, during an interview with Collider Harbour said that he’s going to be pouring his soul into Stranger Things season 5.
Calling Hopper “the role of a lifetime in many ways”, Harbour said, “(Stranger Things season 5) will be my goodbye to Jim Hopper, which is a big deal. Fortunately, I feel like I have a long time to say goodbye because I think we’re going to take a long time shooting these episodes. … I know those (series creators) Duffer brothers are very specific, and I know they want to get that last season. I mean if you look at season 4, I have a feeling that season 5 may not be as long, but it certainly will be packed to the brim with good stuff that you love. I mean, they really are getting better at giving you that home run that the audiences love. And I think that season 5 will do that so much. … I’m going to pour my soul into it as hard as I can.“
Stranger Things season 4 had the following synopsis:
It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.
