After his STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON co-stars Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins were featured in the recent KONG: SKULL ISLAND, it seems that O'Shea Jackson Jr. might get the chance to tussle with his own giant monster as Variety reports that Jackson Jr. is currently in negotiations to join the cast of GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS.
Not much is known about the Michael Dougherty-helmed sequel just yet, nor who O'Shea Jackson Jr. would be playing in it, but should the deal take, Jackson Jr. would be joining Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodlines) and Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel). Chandler and Farmiga are set to play the parents to Millie Bobby Brown's character. As far as returning cast-members go, Variety states that Ken Watanabe is the only member of the Gareth Edwards original likely to return for the sequel. As Watanabe's character was the lead scientist for Project Monarch, the secret organization formed to investigate massive unidentified terrestrial organisms, this would make sense.
The MonsterVerse which began with GODZILLA seems to be growing quickly; KONG: SKULL ISLAND was released several weeks ago (check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray) and will be followed by GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS on March 22, 2019, and it will all be leading up to a face-off between the two titans in GODZILLA VS. KONG on May 29, 2020.
