Story trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines videogame shows what happens after James Cameron’s Aliens

Sega is gearing up for the release of it’s Aliens: Colonial Marines game, a first person co-op shooter that will act as a “true” sequel to James Cameron‘s original sequel, ALIENS.  I think most of us like to pretend that the ALIEN franchise died after Cameron’s entry, so this could very well be the venue to explore what could have been.  Let’s face it, just about anything would’ve been better than ALIEN 3 or ALIEN: RESURRECTION, even if you consider them guilty pleasures.

As a fan of the FPS genre this looks like a promising game, capitalizing on the co-op play and upgrades, allowing you to customize your Colonial Marine rather than get stuck with a generic body.  I haven’t ever played a ALIEN or PREDATOR game, but this looks like the top of the heap as it stands.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is a First-Person Shooter set in the Alien movie franchise universe in which the player takes on the role of a member of a squad of colonial marines sent to the planet LV-426. The game is designed as a true sequel to the 1986 movie, Aliens, done in video game format, and features iconic locations, weapons and alien varieties from Aliens and other movies in the series. Additional features include: four-player co-op functionality, a new alien type, and customizable weapons.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is set for realease on February 12, 2013 for Xbox360, Playstation, and PC.  Preorder here!
