Stormi Maya takes on a macabre clown in Rene Perez’s It Hungers

Last week, we shared the trailer for the cannibal-infested fantasy film THE WISHING FOREST, a collaboration between screenwriter Jamie Grefe and producer/star Stormi Maya. While looking up information on that production, I came across another Grefe/Maya collaboration that looks quite interesting to me. It's a horror film titled IT HUNGERS – a great title to have in a time when horror movies called IT and IT FOLLOWS are so popular.

IT HUNGERS is directed by Rene Perez, who may be best known for his PLAYING WITH DOLLS slasher trilogy. Perez and Grefe wrote the script together, crafting the following story, which is said to be set in 1978: 

Fact. When people become frightened, their bodies are flooded with a stress hormone called Cortisol. There is a creature that feeds on humans, but only when our bodies are ripe with fear and flooded with Cortisol. Only then does it like the taste of human flesh. Only then will it feed.

Deep in the forest, a beautiful young woman on the run from the law escapes into the creature's lair. Like a chef preparing his meal, the creature unleashes a phantom to terrify her. A macabre clown. Once she is terrified enough to be consumed, the creature will move in for the kill. But she is no ordinary girl and she is ready fight to survive.

Maya is producing the film and is playing a character named Rachel.

Filming on IT HUNGERS is expected to be completed in April. In the meantime, you can get an early look at Maya's character and the macabre clown she's tormented by in the artwork below.
