I always liked TWISTER for its entertaining cheesiness, for Bill Paxton playing it straight, and for Philip Seymour Hoffman being the unknown fat guy who screams “IT’S COMING” as Jack Nicholson in THE SHINING is ripped apart into a billion pieces. Awesome stuff.
But what if said group of storm chasing adrenaline junkies were also up against something more than simply the uncompromising rage of Mother Nature? That’s the premise behind the upcoming flick DAY 38, shot in the CLOVERFIELD style of POV camera work, the boys at STYD scored a little heads up as to what the flick is about. Check this:
In the face of a category 5 tornado, a group of storm chasers find themselves fighting off a force greater than Mother Nature.
Cool! Not only does the premise sound like fun, but what’s this? Something original? Sure, it seems like a rip-off of something the SYFY channel would showcase on a Saturday night, but with the right budget, style, and feel, it could be WAY more than that. We can only hope.
The script’s penned by Chris Rossi and Gabriel Scott and that’s about all we know at this point. I’m game! To check out the full scoop, click HERE, and stick around for more details on DAY 38 as we hear it!
