When he signed on to direct THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7 after Steven Spielberg dropped out, Ben Stiller made a statement. The Aaron Sorkin-penned film will be Stiller’s first real forray into drama as a director, and it seems as though he’s not going to stop there. Stiller has just signed on to direct the dramedy HELP ME SPREAD GOODNESS about a Chicago banker who gets swindled in a Nigerian Internet scam. The film was written by Mark Friedman and developed by Participant Media, which has a reputation of making films that are socially aware. It’s unclear if Stiller will take on this project before CHICAGO 7 or visa versa. I suggest Ben tries his hand at GOODNESS before attacking Sorkin’s script because let’s face it, he’s gonna need all the experience he can get.
