All this talk about who might take up the role of Indiana Jones, and few considered the possibility that it might be Ford again! Well, it looks like that's the case as Walt Disney Studios has announced that Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are reuniting to bring the famed archaeologist back to theaters. If that's not good enough for you, we also have the date: July 19, 2019.
Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn:
Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.
Yep, you're reading this right and there's no trickery involved. Spielberg will direct, Ford will star, and franchise veterans Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will be producing. No word on the title, story or George Lucas, but they'd be smart in distancing themselves FAR from CRYSTAL SKULL. Given that TEMPLE OF DOOM is technically a prequel to RAIDERS, perhaps they'll take on a story that precedes SKULL? After all, it couldn't be any worse!
INDIANA JONES 5 is slated to hit theaters on July 19, 2019.
Remember when Indiana Jones was cool? Let's get back to that!
