Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon mimic the voices of The Dark Knight Rises in a clip from The Trip To Italy

THE TRIP TO ITALY is a follow-up to 2010’s THE TRIP, directed by Michael Winterbottom and continues the comedic antics of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as they sit down for six meals in six different places around Italy and allowing the audience to “sit in” on their conversations. The film just debuted at Sundance (see our review here) and one of the signature scenes being talked about is Coogan and Brydon’s discussion of Michael Caine‘s performance in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. It’s a funny back-and-forth as they make light of the British actor’s portrayal of Alfred. They even touch on both Christian Bale and Tom Hardy in their respective roles as Batman and Bane, again with hilarious results.

Have a listen:

Here’s the synopsis:

Two men, six meals in six different places on a road trip around Italy. Liguria, Tuscany, Rome, Amalfi and ending in Capri.

There’s no release date set for THE TRIP TO ITALY, but the first film, THE TRIP, has become a kind of cable TV cult hit that many have stumbled upon and fallen in love with. Indeed the banter and food porn is an odd, yet completely engaging match up, brought to life all the better by the supposed rivalry between Coogan and Brydon.

THE TRIP TO ITALY will likely hit theaters sometime in 2014.
