Sterling K. Brown wants to play John Stewart in Green Lantern Corps

Just this morning it was announced that David Goyer and Justin Rhodes had signed on to pen the script for the upcoming GREEN LANTERN CORPS for Warner Bros. It was also confirmed that the film will be centered around more than just one Green Lantern. In what is being described as a "LETHAL WEAPON in space," the upcoming DCEU flick will be an origin story and focus on both Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The story, which was conceived by David Goyer and Geoff Johns, will apparently deal with Stewart's relationship with both Jordan and the Corps. There have been several actors who have thrown their hat into the ring to play John Stewart, including Tyrese Gibson, but the latest is recent Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story).

Publicly campaigning for a role doesn't always work out, but I'd be more than happy to see Sterling K. Brown land the John Stewart role in GREEN LANTERN CORPS. Brown is already attached to a superhero film, as just last week he became the latest to join the almost embarrassingly great cast of Ryan Coogler's BLACK PANTHER. Brown will be playing N'Jobu in the upcoming Marvel flick, who is "a figure from T’Challa aka Black Panther’s past." At the moment, GREEN LANTERN CORPS is set for a July 24, 2020 release.

What say you? Would Sterling K. Brown make for a good John Stewart? If not, who would you like to see in the role?
