It's always nice when a movie can earn a place on my "must see" list just through its announcement, and that's exactly what has happened with the new Fangoria production V.F.W., which is set to be directed by Joe Begos.
Stephen Lang of DON'T BREATHE (pictured above) is signed to star in the action-horror film, which has been written by Max Brallier and Matthew McArdle. Described as "THE WILD BUNCH meets NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD", the story centers on
Fred and his military buddies as they must defend their local VFW post – and an innocent teen – against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants. These Vietnam vets have been to hell and back, but this will be the longest night of their lives.
THE WILD BUNCH and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as sources of inspiration, Vietnam vets vs. punk mutants… I couldn't be more sold on a project than I am sold on V.F.W. now.
Fangoria's Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk are producing the film alongside Begos' Channel 83 Films partner Josh Ethier. Lang, Brallier, and McArdle serve as executive producers with Adam Donaghey, Phil Nobile Jr., and Danielle Cox of Fangoria, David Gilbery and Charles Dorfman of the film's financier Media Finance Capital, Bobby Campbell, and Noah Lang.
V.F.W. starts filming in Dallas this month, and sounds like it's going to be awesome.
